The rain is coming at a steady downpour with the thunder rolling in the distance. Devin is sitting on his porch with a highball glass of Jameson Irish Whiskey and the half drank bottle. He is looking over his contract that he received from Outlaw Pro Wrestling, he begins to think about why he’d come out of retirement to wrestle again. He wonders why he should come back, but the contract does give him total control of who he is.
Swirling his whiskey in his glass, a smile comes over his face as he sees who he gets to face his first week back to a sport that not many years ago he dominated things. Winning titles wherever he went. Title after title, but it wasn’t long after he lost his wife and then his parents that he sunk into a deep depression. Thinking about his loss was something that made him think about things. He did open a wrestling school, but it wasn’t enough to bring him out of a long standing depression. {Taking another drink of his whiskey}
The day he got the call from Johnny Stylez, who was the owner and CEO of Outlaw Pro Wrestling was a day that Devin actually got a little intrigued. He began to question Johnny’s motives {As he always did}. Those days when they worked together at New Edge Wrestling and how Devin felt that the upper management there had screwed him so many times and how he’d get screwed in those other promotions he held so many championships. Devin began to listen to Johnny’s offer for him to come back. He thought about that idea of coming back as a referee first. Until the time when he felt it would be right for him to get back into the ring as a wrestler.
He’s listening to Johnny’s ideas and proposals as he looks over the porch of his home. Taking the last swig of the whiskey he has poured Devin then let’s Johnny know that he is very interested in what he is saying. He then lets him know that he’ll be coming by to see what Outlaw Pro Wrestling is all about. He then hangs up the phone and heads to his spacious kitchen/Dining Room. Looking around Devin knows that he’s made some good investments ever since his actual last wrestling match. The days he held World Championships in minor promotions like XCW and GCW and even that promotion that was a shabby type High School gym fed called TWA. He knows that he has been up and down the roads with friends and has burned some bridges as well. So he thinks that maybe it is time for one more run.
Packing a bag and suitcase Devin heads to one of his classic cars that he spent restoring. Looking down the line he sees his 69 Chevy Camaro, the 70 Dodge Charger, and his favorite 68 Mercury Cougar. He decides to use the Charger since the ones of today aren’t crap with their new engines that sound loud, but are in reality a weak version of what he drives. Tossing his bag inside he gets his large frame behind the wheel and starts it up. He’s called his girlfriend of the week to get ready for a road trip. She begins to ask the 1000 questions as most girls do and he tells her “Enough questions, just get ready to go.” He then hangs up his phone and puts the car in drive pulling out of the garage. He then locks up things and sets the alarm before calling the alarm company and security company to let them know he’ll be away for a few weeks. He then pulls into the street and drives away from his home.
Putting on his radio he puts on his type of music {Slipknot} and cranks it up loudly. Hitting the gas he loves the acceleration of his choice of car. The Charger was always something that was better than these current crop of cars. The wind in his hair as he drives fast he smiles about this, passing these Smart Cars, these Nissians and Toyotas and Hondas with their lawnmower sounding engines. His being the big block V-8 it’s always something he’s enjoyed. Even though he knows the current government wants to have everyone driving those Hybrid and Electric Cars, Devin has always been a rebel at heart.
He picks up his gf and helps her with her bags and then looks her up and down in her tight leggings and tight shirt. She really knows how to excite a man, and Devin is no different. She might be only 5’7” but she has knockout legs and a rack that would mesmerize any man ….. Unless they didn’t like women. Her name was Riley and she had a sister that used to wrestle in the days as well. It really made his day when he brought her to the ring when her sister was wrestling one day. The look on her face was priceless and it was after that that her sister Dark Angel had an issue with him.
She asks him “Where are we going honey?”
Devin replies “I got a call from Johnny Stylez of Outlaw Pro Wrestling. He wants me to come work with him.”
Riley looks at him and with a surprised look asks. “Isn’t he one of those guys who used to badmouth you in NWW?”
Replying “No that was P.T. Merciless, Hunter Valentyne and Jesse Styles. They all had issues because of how both Drimstone and I ran things. This is going to be different”
“Okay sweetie, but just remember what happened in the past… plus lets not forget how Drimstone treated you.” Riley says.
“To be honest Riley, Dravaka and I are on good terms, it’s those other two guys that irritated me back then…. Mr. Ultimate and his buddy who did everything in their power to make sure I was considered the Marty Jannetty of the tag team Drimstone and I had going. We we’re the best tag team going and they couldn’t handle it.”
Looking at his gas gauge, Devin pulls into a station to fill up and let Riley get some snacks for the road. As he’s putting the gas in he takes out his laptop to see who he’ll be facing in his first match coming back. He is to face some guy named Asher…. Doesn’t know anything about him, but when they did book him it always seemed like some one time show and then another one time show…. He’d just wonder if he’d actually get a real feud to work with. He begins to shake his head at this. Suddenly the gas nozzle clicks and he looks at the cost of the full tank…. {$85} he shakes his head and mutters under his breath that the road trip would be worth the time and gas.
Riley began to walkout with a bag of goodies and a few sodas and some bottles of water. Getting into the car both she and Devin get ready to leave the gas station as a crowd of onlookers notice his pristine 70 Dodge Charger. One woman in the group speaks up about how he’s contributing to Climate Change and the destruction of the planet. To which Devin starts up his car and revs it loudly and laughs at this “Karen” and those like her.
Anybody that has known Devin Stone, has known him to not be afraid to hurt someone’s feelings over the current millennials of today's world. Thinking about that woman, Devin thinks about how this country has turned into a world of shit lately. When he was at home he’d watch various news outlets and he’d just shake his head. It was really sad how he’d be seeing how the government was trying to indoctrinate kids as young as kindergarten into sex education. This was something he was for at all. He knew that if he had kids in school he’d take them out of that school, because in his mind kids should never be involved in that type of teaching until high school. He was also not in favor of this new math or as they called it “Common Core” It’s now time for Devin Stone to do what he does best and that’s Kick Ass and take names later.
Rubbing his head though from the were Johnny Stylz and his Ape attacked him, he knows that he’s going to make an example of his first opponent this week and then next he will deal Johnny and his crew of Apes like the idiot Xavier Wolf. That’s one who he really wants in the ring, but he knows that having to walk through the wall of The Syndicate’s Hired Guns. Devin knew that what he did was something that he’d have to pay for, but if he’d had not done such he would have been under the thumb of Stylez. This was something that he was done with. He knew everything about Johnny Stylez and how he ran things… being Vince McMahon like, giving himself the World Title and making sure he crew had all the glory. Well he’s going to change the guard and get these younger guys and girls and chance that he’s not giving them..
Riley begins to question Devin on how things are going.
“So are you going to wrestle with that cut in your head?” she asks him
Looking at her with a smile, he replies “I’ve had worse than this hon, Johnny and his Ape have only fueled the fire that is burning within me.”
“So do you think Johnny is going to be fair about any match he gives you?”
“To be honest, I don’t give a shit about Johnny being fair or not. I’m going to show him that Devin Stone is no one to be trifled with. I am going to prove to everyone in Outlaw Pro Wrestling that I’m not a joke.”
“Good baby, very good.” Riley says to him with a smile. “But Ijust heard some news that Johnny Stylez has been arrested, what are you going to say about that?”
Devin begins to laugh loudly upon hearing this news. “Johnny fucking Stylez got his dumbass arrested? That’s rich, but it seems like the patients are going to be running the insane asylum now.”
Together they both laugh at his misfortune and then Devin hits the gas as they head over the horizon.
