...STATIC...
[ Your television screen crackles in static, and then we find ourselves looking at a pair of news anchors from WDSU on Channel 6, sitting behind a desk. ]
[ Christina Watkins ]: ... local wrestling outfit Outlaw Pro Wrestling seems to be in disarray after the owner and operator, one Johnny Stylez, was arrested on multiple felony charges including conspiracy to commit murder, trafficking, extortion, child pornography. News coming from multiple sources suggests that they may be trying to figure out a rescue deal to keep the organization afloat but there are rumors abound that their broadcast partner could be about to pull the plug...
... STaTiC ...
[ The television set crackles and we are faced with another set of news anchors. This time the local CBS affiliates Jade Cunningham and Paul Dudley. ]
[ Jade Cunningham ]: What a brutal end it was to a fantastic showing on OPW’s first world tour, it looks like it could all be for nothing, though, as an international arrest warrant and major operation from multiple three letter federal organizations collaborated to pull off getting Stylez into custody.
[ Paul Dudley ]: Indeed, the future of the OPW rests precariously, with news coming out from the media circle that HBO are about to pull the plug, who knows what the future holds?
~~ StATIC ~~
[ We get a grainy clip of a camcorder recording a familiar looking man who is ranting into a microphone in a booth. ]
[ Jim Cornette ]: I TOLD ALL YOU MOTHERFUCKERS ABOUT THAT FUCKIN MUDSHOW. OUTLAW PRO WRESTLING IS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN RAN BY FUGITIVES, THEY’LL RIP YOU OFF SOON AS SHOVE YOU OFF A SCAFFOLD, AND NOW I’VE PROVEN IT! BUNCH OF CROOKS, ALL OF ‘EM!
!! ST@TIC !!
[ The channel changes to another podcast type scenario, but this time there is a couple of people. One of them is a famous podcaster with connections to the wrestling world, and the other, the one who the camera is focused on, is FIGHT Radio and Magazine editor, Greer. He has a Saints hat on, backwards, and a large oversized Syndicate tshirt on. ]
[ Greer ]: So here’s the thing about Outlaw Pro Wrestling. This is a bad look. A real baaaad look for them, but the power was actually devolved a long time ago from Johnny Stylez. He’s always had Roger Wright as part of it, to keep him in check, and he’s not wrapped up in this.
[ Co-Host ]: That’s true, but Roger has been off on his own problems as of late.
[ Greer ]: And as for the rest, well, there is this menagerie, if you like, of authority figures that sit in this uneasy situation where none of them necessarily have the final say but they all do stuff that somehow keeps the others in check.
[ Co-Host ]: You’re talking about Kal Wolf, Miss Michelle?
[ Greer ]: And for now, HBO’s own stake in the OPW business, Joe Montuori. He is legitimately employed by HBO to try to keep this show vaguely within the means of HBO’s commercial interest.
[ Co-Host ]: So what is your verdict?
[ Greer ]: Well, OPW has enough authority figures with the capability to act independently of LA Johnny Stylez. There is a vacuum for sure, and the weeks ahead are interesting. I think it’d be in the interest of HBO to continue the ride because things are only going to get interesting from here on out...
[ Co-Host ]: You are the expert in all things OPW, I’d say that this is a pretty good take. Let’s see what happens...
