Traitors, Revenge and Weakest Links
Caleb stood in the locker room straight after his tag championship match in Jacksonville, Florida. He was very unhappy as he had been screwed out of the OPW championship belt because his Cure tag partner had showed weakness and the members of Caffeine Mafia had jumped all over it like the pathetic cowards that they are. He should really try and put it behind him but he knows his cousin Nocturnal will be goddamn angry and probably punish him for the loss even though it was taken out of his hands. The man that lived by the moniker of the Sadistic Bastard would be angry with the situation and take it out on his cousin.Nocturnal kicked open the door and stomped straight into the middle of the locker room. He ripped off the mask he wore and through it to the floor. His face was revealed and he was completely pissed off. Emily, his sister cowered behind him as she knew what was coming. She motioned to Caleb to not say anything.
“Cous,” Caleb started but Nocturnal held up a hand. He paused for a few seconds as he got his composure back.
Emily nervously motioned for Caleb to stand behind her.
Nocturnal sighed through his nose, working his mouth angrily while his eyes drifted ever so slowly to the floor. This was not supposed to have happened to this family. His dark eyes darted to the locker rooms carpet as he began to rapidly rethink over how this incident would change his plans. If it wasn't for the weather that was scheduled to arrive, Nocturnal would have already been in the car with the rest of the family and leaving for Abilene, Texas but this disastrous travesty shouldn’t have happened. Caleb had been ripped off when Jayson had let him down but Jayson will learn not to screw over the Koresh Family. Now that the tag championship belts had gone back to the Caffeine Mafia it had been their weak link that had committed the win to history by pin Jayson. The Caffeine Mafia were going to be a thorn in the Families side and they needed sorting before they got too big for their britches. This Roar faction of theirs thought they were the biggest thing in the industry but they were a pathetic excuse for the fans of OPW to turn the channel.
He gritted his teeth together, feeling utterly irate, and swore to himself that he would personally castrate some wastes of skin for getting in our rise to greatness. How could Caleb have lost? Having been thrown out of the ring by some wannabie was an insult to the skills that he had been taught in the squared circle.
"Incompetent idiots—the lot of you," he growled to the floor, his voice barely audible as his fists clenched and unclenched. “I’m not going to stand for it this week; next show I am going to not stop myself from ripping Lisa Marie’s goddamn arm off of her body this time. She’s going to have the same destruction brought to her that we did back in the day. Caleb you cannot let what happened to you tonight to be what the Cure stands for. Hell, not just the Cure but this Family has as a whole. We will make sure the Caffeine Mafia’s second title reign is as short as yours. I can’t believe they stole your main event spot this week and now end up sending the wrestling fans to turn the channel faster than a Cowboy’s fan creaming himself over their cheerleaders.”
Caleb went to say something but Nocturnal cut him off before he could even say it.
“You may be in a singles match this week Caleb do not forget what went down this week,” he said as he looked at Caleb in the eyes. “Being the best in this business is what we are all about and your opponent will know when the King of Monsters sets his sights on something he will get it. What does he do to deserve a match with me let alone a contract with Outlaw Pro Wrestling?”
Nocturnal paused as if in thought, his head down and his left hand running through his beard.
When he looked up at Caleb and finally spoke, his voice was deceptively playful and strangely wilted, as if it would crack at any moment. "I guess that means we better go and plan something then, Emily you know what we’ve got to do?"
Emily nodded her head fervently, already turning to leave.
Nocturnal suddenly called after her, "Get the Cure together," he ordered, his voice louder and stronger this time, "We must made an example of someone," he growled, ". . . or else my name will be shit."
“I’ve seen this Derrick Addison’s sort before. All flash in the pan. Like others that haunt the OPW locker room,” he paused. “Waste of flesh to be honest the lot of them Caleb. The sooner we go full circle the better. Korrupt is now here and he must be used before he realises what is upon us.”
“True cous,” Caleb started as he stretched. “Derrick needs to be made an example of as he’s only a part timer on the roster and not wrestled in months.”
Nocturnal stopped and then smiled, “Oh don’t open that kettle of fish. I’m so glad for him that he finally finding his spot in the locker room and not in the merchandise store. You will beat him or else.”
Caleb nodded his head yet again. Had it been any other man uttering those words of "or else," they simply would have been false threats, but, as they were coming from the Sadistic Bastard himself, Caleb knew those words to ring all but too true. There would be hell to pay if he didn't beat Derrick—and beat him bad.
Emily came back in with a camera crew in toe. She motioned for them to set up in front of Nocturnal who had Caleb stood on one side of him. Emily took her place on the other side. The cameraman brought up the camera and counted Nocturnal in.
“How had this happened?” Nocturnal asked angrily. “How could a couple of enhancement talents got one over on someone as experienced as one of the Koresh Family? I know the real weak link in this equation was Jayson Violence but he would be sorted out as soon as the Family found where he had gone to but at the moment the members of the Caffeine Mafia now joined with another group of enhancement talent and formed this group that wanted to take the place of the Cure. The arrogance on these upstarts who think because their weakest link took out the Cure’s weakest link on one night caused something to happen. They have woken the monster within the meat suit of the Sadistic Bastard.”
He turned and looked at Caleb.
“I should blame Caleb but he didn’t really have anything to do with this disaster,” he said. “Losing the OPW Tag Championship straps to them after ripping them from their pathetic hands in Tokyo could be classed as the turning point in the Cure’s evolution but to be honest if it hadn’t been for Lisa-Marie’s unnatural obsession with Apathy due to Apathy’s time she had spent with Lisa-Marie’s dead husband we would have moved on and ignored the non-entity. Frank Finelli and I had history back in the day and when the guy was sober he was talented in the squared circle but he had been obsessed with the wrestler known as Vanessa and had lost his way. Even when he joined with Lisa-Marie he couldn’t get his spot back and many thought it was Lisa-Marie’s constant worrying where he was and what he was doing that had finally sent him over the edge.”
Nocturnal slowly turned back towards the camera.
“The Caffeine Mafia has a chance to cement their team this week when they put their belts on the line in the main event but do you really think the Cure or even my family will let you survive this week?” Nocturnal asked. “I do not freaking think so. We won’t let that happen. If it’s the last thing we do it will stop them leaving the arena with the belts. I can promise you now that after that show that deluded bitch will not be happy; no, if the Cure get their way she’ll be leaving the arena in a freaking body bag.”
A sadistic smile crossed Nocturnal’s lips for a few seconds as he looked down the camera lens.
“It makes me so angry that this new group of enhancement talent which are no better than picking some people out of the crowd to wrestle are thinking they’ve got one over on us just because of some obsession that one of its members has,” he said. “We should be thinking ahead. Caleb has a match against someone that hasn’t even been in a match for nearly six months. Derrick Addison? Does anyone know this guy is? Word is that the owners have had him selling stuff from the merchandise truck for most of the time he’s been here in OPW. What a rude awakening it will be when he gets back in the squared circle with the King of Monsters. Caleb may look scary but that’s not the half of it. Derrick may want to get a Greyhound back to Missouri so save his mortal soul from the real monster of OPW.”
This seemed like a different Nocturnal. He seemed more motivated. Something had changed in him with seeing the OPW World Tag Championship belts stolen from one of his own.
“The Cure has battles on many fronts but we’re united in one thing and that is curing this company of the cancer that has kept it down for so long,” Nocturnal continued. “Outlaw Pro Wrestling should be the premiere wrestling company out there especially with the Network that they broadcast on but they were always held down from greatness BUT the Cure has been eliminating these anomalies slowly but it is now time to up the speed and eliminate others that have been keeping this wrestling promotion down. Now that the Cure is evolving we need to put together a new strategy to reach our goals.”
Caleb turned with a surprised look upon his scaled face. This was pretty weird as he had expected his cousin to go bat shit crazy with a chair on him.
“Atlanta, Georgia; what better place for where we break the hearts of the fans who turned their backs on the Koresh Family,” he said. “Atlanta is the hometown and current residence of the Family’s most successful disciple. Deathstroke could have been a great champion in a past company was in but he got side tracked by jealousy plain and simple. The owner of this company Johnny freaking Stylez saw something in Stroke and vetoed his push with the owner just because he wanted to be the man. Luckily Johnny’s been arrested as I’d punch through his chest and rip out his still beating heart and take a bite out of it before throwing it into a fire. He didn’t want a maverick like Deathstroke becoming the champion of a promotion that he wanted to be the face of. When Caleb came here he wanted to put the family down. He wanted someone he could control. Me? Control me?”
He laughed out loud which seemed a bit over exaggerated just for the camera.
“Oh I am so funny,” he continued. “I do crack myself up sometime. No one can control me. Control me? Fuck him. He cannot hang with me in the Darkness. For the Darkness is my friend, its caresses me and keeps me safe from their pathetic world. People have tried but it doesn’t end well for them for I am the Darkness, and the Darkness is me. It is part of my very being. It seeps through my very soul. And OPW found this out for itself didn’t they? Caleb has a reputation to uphold as he is a monster. We rose above the dregs of humanity and moved onto where we are today. We are that good. Come on fuckers, did you think it would be any other way? I am doing what we predicted we would do; And that’s destroy all they put out in Caleb’s path. But this week’s going to be interesting when this part timer gets sacrificed to the family.”
Emily looked excited as usual. She was always hyperactive when it came to her brother’s ideas as they usually consisted of violence and were bloody.
“Derrick believes that he can come back from obscurity in this company,” Nocturnal chuckled. “He thinks he can come back and go against someone with my cousin’s skills? People look at Caleb and to be honest most of them are shocked just by his kaiju looks. They are either scared of the walking monster or just come out with mockingly immature names like Crocodile man, Gator boy or Scaly. How pathetic of you and your discrimination against someone that was born with a disorder and has to live with this ever since he clawed his way out of his late mother. How dare you, how goddamn dare you!”
Nocturnal looked angrily into the camera once again.
“Some have stated that after so many years why are the Koresh Family relevant in this industry and haven’t become jaded by their experiences in the squared circle,” Nocturnal said. “Have you not seen us? We don’t give a rat’s ass and we’ve always been freaking jaded. It’s always about this coterie of mine. The Koresh Family are a dynasty. But to change the subject Outlaw Pro Wrestling has a war within its ranks. But did they really think that the Koresh Family would make a good grunt in their battles against those cretins? Oh now this would be fun would it not? Not so much for anyone else but Caleb here would love it. Rending the flesh of Derick would be fun.”
He paused before he continued.
“Is this what they want?” he asked. “Is this what they are looking for? Is it? How can they justify themselves by doing this to the people? They should have gone the full way and finished Caleb off for good once and for all as this would only motivate the Cure into getting revenge on those goddamn jokers. Do they not know who they are fucking with? They say that each of us holds within them a beast that could be let lose at any time to let the world that they shouldn’t be fucked with. I am aware of this beast within Caleb. This beast has been in control of his meat suit of his for many years and has been taking him on this sadistic path. Brutality was unleashed by the beast within him to his opponents at the last show but nothing to what is going to be done to this part-timer at the next show.”
Caleb stretched his muscles as he looked at his cousin.
“People have said that my cousin’s personality has changed in recent weeks and yes I would agree to a certain degree,” he said. “He has been herded a specific way by one of the personalities within this shell of mine to act a certain way. No longer wanting to be a sheep Caleb has re-evaluated himself and unleashed the beast within him. It is inside him, I have tried to kill it, but it just won’t die. That is why he has been kind of erratic as of late, one moment the beast is the dominant personality, then the other times he is not and that is totally fucked up.”
Nocturnal caressed his beard and moved a hair out of his eyes.
“I do not condone the actions of the Caffeine Mafia and the sheep that they run with but getting Caleb involved in their shenanigans is the worst thing they could have done,” Nocturnal said. “Oh I do feel so sorry for them. They will feel the complete and utterly undivided attention once I have found the right path for the Cure and with that this family of mine. How wrong could they have been to try and use the Cure as a pawn in their plans? Jason Violence fell for it but to use someone with Caleb’s skillset in their ploy wasn’t a very intelligent plan especially with the strings and constraints that held him back all these year was now gone and he is free to do what the family wants to who we want. Destroy all those that crossed paths with him. The pleasure he felt from rending his opponents flesh was almost orgasmic and he needed more of it. He has been called a side-show freak with illusions of grandeur and a soul damned to Hell but he just grins with those sharpened teeth of his and says why the fuck would he not own that and other monikers that have been thrown upon his carcass since the fateful day when he came into this world in Abilene, Texas. Our family were shunned by our neighbours, they hated anything that was different and my family was so completely different from the norm and we still are.”
Caleb growled at the camera man.
“Wait exactly Caleb, why are we still talking to this camera guy?” he asked the cameraman. “Go and leave us before I change my mind.”
