It is quiet in the house of Fury and Wolf, Chan was already up and at them and out running errands, he preferred getting them done as soon as possible so that way his schedule was cleared in case Le’Andra or X needed him. He literally catered after them as if they both came from a royal bloodline and not one. Le’Andra and her husband, Xavier were laying in bed, still sound asleep. They were back in New York and had spent most of the night at the Empire Room throwing back and buying drinks and “deer hunting”. They had dragged themselves home at the ass crack of dawn after having worn out one of the waitresses in the upstairs suite at the club; fucked one last time before they finally passed out in a tangle of limbs.
They didn’t hear the front door as the lock clicked open and the door slowly swung open, they didn’t hear anything as the person walked slowly and silently in and closed the door behind them, nor did they hear as said person walked to the stairs leading up to the second floor. What they did hear....
LE-LE!! XAVI!!
Le’Andra’s eyes shot open and then she slowly rolled over on her back and groaned as she tried to focus her eyes.
I thought we changed the pin number on the pad?
Hacker. Was all Xavier said; he didn’t move, didn’t even open his one visible eye.
We’ll get a deadbolt. She suggested.
She’ll just pick it. He still hadn’t moved.
Is there anything in her breaking and entering dossier she can’t do? She smirked thinking she found a solution. Brick and mortar?
She’d climb up the side like I did… He opened his one visible eye and looked at Le’. Except without the window washer platform.
If she didn’t take a sledge hammer to it and we don’t really need to give her a reason to have one of those.
They heard what sounded like a herd of wild horses run up the stairs, down the small hallway and then the door to the other room burst open and the *ping* of the doorknob as it hit the steel plate in the wall behind it; their drywall man was adamant about a steel plate with as many times as he’s had to replace that section of wall.
It’s like having a child.
Except this one brings coffee. He finally rolled over and sat up just as soon as he saw Anicka coming into their bedroom with a drink carrier in one hand with three large cups of coffee and brown bag marked “Peets Coffee”.
I did say “almost”.
Morning. Her voice was waayy too cheerful for them.
Is that……? Le’Andra said as she sat up and eyed the brown bag.
It is. Anicka smiled.
I’ve been craving some.
Le’Andra sat up and tucked the sheet around her and Anicka tossed the bag to her before she walked up the center of the bed on her knees a little bit and she finally took a seat, crossing her legs in front of her. She handed Le’ and X their cups of coffee, before she took her own.
What are you guys doing today? Ani needs help with something.
Help with what? Xavier asked as he took a sip of coffee.
Well… Anicka begins with a smirky little smile. Ani wants to hang a zip line from the top of her building to the top of this one.
Le’Andra choked a little on the chicken chorizo flatbread she was eating causing Xavier to chuckle and reach over and pat her on the back. She reached for her coffee and took a drink.
Have you completely gone mad?
I think the doctors are still out on that one. Xavier said softly into his coffee cup as he took a drink; causing Ani to sheepishly smile and shrug her shoulders.
I am pretty sure the city of New York might have an issue with a zip line.
Ani’s pretty sure she could convince New York city to let her put in a zip line if she gave them enough money.
Spoken like a woman who just took over the largest shipping business in the world.
No, Ani, just no. Le’Andra was starting to worry about the woman. Ever since she left New Orleans, she’s been running wild. What is wrong with you?
Ani’s bored Le-Le. She sighed.
Le’Andra looked at her friend, she knew it wasn’t boredom, Ani was missing Johnny. She looked over at her husband, she remembered being “bored” when she and Xavier were apart. Ani might have had a hand in Johnny Stylez’ imprisonment, but she still had feelings for him. Le’Andra thought for a moment before she said it, but then decided, what the hell, why not.
Xavi’ and I are flying to Norway in a couple hours, why don’t you fly with us?
Sure, Ani’s got nothing better to do. She shrugged her shoulders. We will be back before the show, right?
Of course, I wouldn’t want to miss my match against Koresh.
You know, Ani bets your mama might know some tales about how your ancestors got rid of creatures like him.
Creatures? She scoffed at Ani. He’s no creature, nor a monster. He’s just a man. Men can fall, men can be beaten. As a matter of fact, creatures can be beaten; and monsters, too. History tells us this; myths and legends, too.
Le-Le’s spitting rhymes.
Don’t you have a bag to pack? Xavier loved the dark haired woman; but there were times when she drove him nuts and before coffee was one of those times. I’m not ready for your Ani-ness yet.
When are you ever ready for Ani’s Ani-ness? She smirked. Ani just has to run back to her place and get her pocket book.
Well, why don’t you go get it? He suggested.
And with that she was gone, Anicka left so quickly that if it hadn’t been for the coffee still in their hands, they would have doubted she had been there at all.
Maybe there’s a viking or two over there that can take the edge off of her?
Call together all the other Firstborns. He chuckled. Ani does Vahalla.
You remember I am a Firstborn, right?
You bet I do. He gave her a wink. I’m gonna be holding the camera getting the best close ups.
I’m going to get dressed, she should be back any minute and I’d like to grab a bite to eat before we get on the jet. Anicka was known for being very fast and light on her feet. It wouldn’t take her long to run the couple blocks back to her apartment; as a matter of fact, between the two buildings she would spend more time waiting and riding in elevators than running. I wonder how many people she’s going to knock down between here and there?
Knowing Ani… He said with a chuckle in his voice as he got up. Every damned one of them.
June 16 2021; 8:11pm - Kirkenes Airport, Kirkenes, Norway
When the trio arrived at the airport, there was a car already there waiting for them, Le’Andra’s mother made sure of that and not just any old car either, she made sure to send the best one in the fleet; the stretch limo, the driver already out with the door opened. As soon as they departed the plane and Le’Andra saw it, she had to roll her eyes a little.
Nothing but the best for her Firstborn. Xavier chuckled as soon as he saw the eye roll, he slipped his hand in hers as they started for the car.
Evening, Olin. Le’Andra greeted the driver in her native tongue as they grew closer.
Evening, Ma’am. He nodded in Xavier’s direction. Sir. Then nodded in Anicka direction; whom both Le’Andra and Xavier saw was already smiling. Ma’am.
Ani, nei. Le’ slipped back to English. Car. Now.
Anicka had heard Le’ say “Ani, nei.” enough times to know she told her no, she huffed dramatically like a 13 yr old being told no by her parents as she went and got into the car. Olin’s eyes never left Ani as he watched her ass as she climbed into the car. Le’ looked at Xavier, who silently chuckled; Le’ turned back to the driver and brought her hand up and snapped her fingers a few times, to get his attention again.
My apologies. Olin cast his eyes downward in embarrassment.
I am assuming Mother is awaiting our arrival?
She is.
Please tell me there are no drums.
No, drums. He smiled a little. Just dinner.
Dinner. She nodded. I can handle dinner.
Le-Le! It sounded like Ani had climbed to the front of the limo where the bar was.
That I’m not too sure of. She pointed in the open door of the car before turning to her husband. What was I thinking, Xavi’?
That we needed to keep her out of trouble.
And you didn’t try to talk me out of it? She watched as Xavier shook his head. For the love of Gods, next time, do better and talk me out of it.
June 16 2021; 8:33pm - Snowhotel Kirkenes, Kirkenes, Norway
When they arrived at the hotel and went inside, they were met by the hotel manager, with a message from her mother for them to meet her in her office. They walked to the private elevator that only the staff and family used and pressed the button. It opened immediately and once they were inside, Le’Andra told Anicka to head on up to her suite and freshen up, they would be there in a bit and then head to dinner. When the elevator stopped they got off on the third floor and made their way to her mother’s office.
To say that Ylva Av’Ulver’s office was anything less than ostentatious would be a bold face lie, white marble throughout the room, even the damned walls with their ornate columns. White leather furniture accented in gold trim, even her desk was made of marble. She always said that being the Chieftain of the 1st Clan, they had a certain appearance that they had to keep. Mother was sitting at her desk looking regal as ever as if she was the Queen of England, and not just a clan chieftain; Le’Andra couldn’t ever remember a time when her mother let her back touch the chair when sitting; her assistant was standing by ready to assist if needed. Her desk was also made from marble, white with a splash of grey, just enough to offset it from the color of the floor. Mother was dressed in a white business suit that dared not show a wrinkle on it while she wore it; hair, makeup and nails were absolutely flawless. Le’ was in awe of the woman sometimes and often questioned whether she would live up to the woman’s legacy or not. If anything, Le’ hoped she looked that damned good at her age, when she was younger, people always thought Le’ and her mom were sisters.
Le’Andra, Xavier! How are you, my loves? She said as soon as she looked up and saw them. Her face beamed a radiant smile as she came from around the desk and gave them both huge motherly hugs and kisses. As she made her way back around to her seat, Le’Andra looked at the white skirt and shook her head; not a fucking wrinkle.
My loves? Both Le’Andra and Xavier looked at each other and they had one of those conversations that married couples can have with one another without opening their mouths. What has she done this time? I don’t know, but I’m not breaking up any fights. I might record it, but I am not breaking it up. Sounds right.
It really depends on what this is all about. You didn’t beat around the bush with Mother, you had to get a jump on the convo before she could get a jump on it. What have you done or what are you planning on doing?
Smart as a whip, that one is. Mother looked at Xavier and winked with a smile. Always on guard.
Chip off the ol’ block. He smiled back.
So, you are planning on doing something. She eyed her mother.
Doing? No, done, Darling.
Mother clasped her dainty hands in front of her on the desk and stared down at her fingers glinting with jewels; she took a couple of breaths before she looked back up at them with a smile. Le’Andra studied her, was her mother acting...nervous?
We all know I’ve never been a fan of Xavier.
Not this again, Mother. She sighed.
Le-Le, at least hear me out before you start with a tantrum.
Pardon me, please, do go on.
As I was saying, I wasn’t a fan of Xavier’s. A man of his reputation was not the type of man that I wanted for my daughter. She cast a sideways glance and a knowing smile. Even if my daughter is just like him. I knew his brother and what happened between his brother and your father and I didn’t want my Firstborn to be involved with someone like that. I wanted to follow tradition, since it didn’t work out well when I didn’t follow tradition. I didn’t want Le’ to live the same heartbreaks that I have done. I didn’t want my daughter to marry beneath her, as I did; I wanted to find a man worthy of her. She smiled. Little did I know, I didn’t have to, she would do just fine on her own.
Ylva.. Xavier started. Mother held up one of her fingers to shush him; had it been anyone else but his mother in law whom had aided and abetted when needed the most, he would have probably said fuck you and stormed out.
See, perfect for each other. Mother said to her assistant, who tried to suppress a smile. Neither of you can let me finish my heartfelt speech that I worked so long on.
Xavier looked at his wife and teased her. I finally figured out where you get that from.
Touche, Xavier. Mother smiled. As I was saying, Le’ did just fine on her own. The night before your wedding, the fight in the parking lot… the Clan Wars… You fought with every ounce of what I wanted my daughter’s husband to fight with. As I watched the two of you in the Clan Wars, I had never been... so... proud. Her voice caught in her throat a bit causing her to pause for a moment. You stood fast by her side, by each others’ sides. I have never been so happy to be wrong about you, Xavier.
You’ve already said this, Mother.
Mother looked over at her assistant. See, if it’s not one, it’s the other, perfect for each other. She turned back to the couple. I felt the need to say it again. Many men would have taken your father’s deal and happily divorce their wives, but you didn’t. I know it’s not the only reason behind what happened, but I know it had a part of it.
Xavier opened his mouth to say something.
I know you love my daughter. She had said exactly what he was going to say. And I know that your family will do nothing but add strength to our bloodline. So, as Chieftain, I have done something.
Both Le’Andra and Xavier looked at each other as she stood up and walked around the desk towards them. Here it comes. She motions for them to get up and follow her over where her assistant was, it was right then and there that Le’s realized her assistant was standing by a curtain that didn’t used to be there. She motioned for her assistant to open the curtain and when she did, Le’Andra let out a gasp.
Mother! She turned and faced her mother with tears forming in her eyes. You.. you..
I did. I commissioned your own Arms to use when you become Chieftain. I had them remove the lion and replace it with a wolf, just like my Lioness has a Wolf by hers. When your Firstborn takes over it will be her choice she leads under, as will it be the choice of all future generations.
I really don’t know what to say, thank you, Ylva.
No thanks needed, Xavier, just keep loving my daughter and making me proud.
You know I never stopped.
She smiled as she saw the way Xavier looked over at her daughter when he said this, she believed him. I don’t know about you, but I am starved. Why don’t the two of you go get freshened up. She looked at her diamond encrusted watch. We’ll meet in the dining room in 30 mins.
Sounds good to me. Xavier just nodded beside Le’Andra.
Perfect.
They said quick goodbyes and the last thing Le’Andra and Xavier heard before they closed the door was Mother instructing her assistant to message the rest of the family when dinner would be served. Le’Andra and Xavier made it up to the floor that houses her and her two sisters' rooms to find Anicka holding up a couple of Le’s dresses to see which looked better on her.
No, Ma’am. She shook her head. You will be wearing pants as long as you’re here and around my brothers.
What?! Ani gasped in shock. Ani would nev..e...r. She stared at them for a moment. Ookaay, fiiinne. Ani’ll goo put paants oon. She stomped back into Le’s closet. But she’s not going to like it. Not one bit.
And that’s something I can gladly live with. Le’ called after her. I’m going to freshen up a bit, Xavi’. She gave him a quick peck on the cheek and walked to the bathroom as he took a seat on the dark leather couch.
Once inside the bathroom, Le’Andra walked over to the frosted glass basin that had a blue hue emanating from underneath. She turned on the cold water and cupped her hands underneath letting them fill with water, before splashing it onto her face; she did this a couple of times before she turned off the water and grabbed the white fluffy towel hanging on the rack. Once done, she stood there and looked at her reflection.
I figured once we dealt with Xavier’s father, life would have slowed down some, that we’d get to relax, and do some of the things we talked about before the man reared his ugly head back into his life, but quite the opposite. But Wolves don’t rest, they are always on the hunt. Xavier is hunting Stratford… and I am hunting my next win… just like my opponent, Caleb Koresh.
She walked over to the vanity table and took a seat. She picked up the vintage silver Victorian brush that her mother gave her when she was 13 years old and began to pull it through her blonde hair. As she looked at her reflection in the mirror, she made a mental note to get her hair knotted up before they flew back to the states.
Since the dawn of time, people who look different have been ridiculed and ostracized; made fun of. It seems that every opponent that Caleb has gone up against has taken that route thinking that would be the best course of action, the best way to make the win. I am not like every other opponent. I do not base my judgement on my opponent and whether or not I can beat them on their appearance. Never have, never will. One of my dearest friends growing up... he was different.
She put the brush back down and began to work her blonde hair into a french braid as she continued to talk.
I was in my 13th year, when I met him, he waited for me outside the arena after the 13-16 yr olds had fought. It was his first year at Clan Wars because up until then his parents were worried and didn’t think he was ready for the cruelties he would face. He had been trying to get the autographs of all the Firstborns. All the adults had happily signed the book he had with all the pictures, it’s an unspoken rule if you will when it comes to children; and, of course, as I have said, he was different. But where the adults are more accommodating, the children not too much.
She smiled thinking about Ove and how he bravely marched up to her, barely able to hold the book and pen in his hands. He introduced himself as Ove Haugen, told her that he was proud to have watched her fight and asked if she would sign his book. Before she could say anything, one of the other Firstborns told her to leave the “village idiot” alone.
As I said, Ove was different. He was a little slow, but he also had Ulnar Dysplasia; the disease caused him to be born missing his elbow joints with the bones fused together but in reverse and when those words were said, it crushed him. He started to walk away, but I told him to stop. I took his book and I signed it and I made everyone else sign it as well. She smiles, but there is a hint of sadness to it. Three years later, his family showed up at the Clan Games without him; he had passed away a few months before. I had a chance to talk to his mother and she told me how much that day had meant to her son. She nodded her head just a little, her smile still sad. Funny thing, at the Remembrance Ceremony, there was not one Firstborn that did not shed a tear… that boy, even though he looked different from all the rest, left us all with a deep impression and a deep hole in our hearts.
She looked hard at her reflection again, paying attention to the faint dark circles under her eyes that were held at bay by four hour power naps and a healthy dose of caffeine. She picked up the make-up brush and powder and started to touch up her face.
I know first hand that looking different doesn’t make you any different of a person, or a wrestler, than those who are not and it would be silly of me not to see you for the wrestler that you are. You were after all, half of the tag team champion, even if briefly. You have shown your skills in the ring in the past, in the present, and I know in the future. The only question is… will you now? Will you show the same tenacity you have each time you have squared off in the ring up until this moment in time, this moment in history. Will you falter? Will you cause me to falter? Will our allies, gods know we can’t really call them stables, since one has crumbled and the other is barely hanging on by a thin thread... surface and slip into our match in an attempt to make sure the win falls on the shoulder of their chosen warrior? So many questions and so many variables in how this could go.
She finished with her face and crossed her arms on the vanity table and sat there for a moment, thinking before she finally continued on.
As I was telling Ani, you are not a monster... you are not a creature… you are a man… and those I have beaten plenty of both inside and outside of the ring. Will I walk into this match and into that ring thinking that I will walk out with my hand raised high… getting the one, two, three… of course, I will… because that’s what warriors do, that’s what fighters do... because...
...that’s what I do.
With nothing more to say, Le’s lean back up and stood her full height before she turned around and walked back out of the bathroom and back into the main living area to find Xavier and Anicka on opposite sides of the breakfast bar, they were arm wrestling and right now, the back of Ani’s hand was 3 inches from the counter top. She looked up and saw Le’ walking towards them.
Le-Le, why are you naked?
What? You’re supposed to be getting dres... Xavier’s arm went slack as he turned around and found his wife fully dressed, Anicka reversed the hold and slapped the back of Xavier’s hand down on the counter. That was cheating, Ms Swan.
That was winning, Mr Wolf.
I feel left out not having a last name that’s an animal. She looked at her watch.
I’ve given you mine.
Twice even. Ani pointed out.
Twice… He pointed at her and nodded his head. Thank you, Ani.
You can’t walk to the ring without bumping into a Wolf, I understand why Vincent went Back to Black, hard to make a name for yourself if people are already doing that. In the past it was Kal and right now it’s you. I am so glad that none of my brothers and sisters went into the business.
Ani’s glad there’s only one Swan.
So are we. Le’X said at the same time.
Let’s go, we don’t want to be late. It’ll give Julian something to complain about.
I’m sure he’ll find something else.
June 16 2021; 9:30pm - Snowhotel Kirkenes, Kirkenes, Norway
Le’X and Anicka showed up for dinner right on time, the family was still in the lounge with their pre-dinner drinks. Le’Andra older brother and three younger siblings was there as well as Ylva’s husband, Julian. There were warm welcomes and hugs all around, except for Julian, he is as he always is, frosty. He had expected their daughter, Elena, to be Firstborn after she was born since they were married, but as Ylva pointed out, it was HER firstborn, not HIS firstborn. They hadn’t even sat down at the table, before Julian opened his mouth.
It’s a pleasure to see you all again. He smiled at Xavier. You are one of the only men I know who’s wife and companion get along together.
Everyone stood there and looked at him, even his children couldn’t believe the words he had just uttered. Le’Andra narrowed her eyes just slightly as she stared at him, from beside her, Xavier watched the tells of her body, the way her muscles would move right before she got ready to spring. He glanced away long enough to see Anicka doing the same. At this point, he was hoping that she was going to grab Le’ because he didn’t know if he would be able to pull both of them off of him. Finally, Xavier thought, fuck it, it’s his funeral.
Have you ever considered that she’s MY companion? My husband has impeccable taste when it comes to beauty and she's very beautiful. She’s Xavier’s best friend and the both of us enjoy her company and dare I say, her craziness makes us happy at times when she’s around. When she crossed her arms over her chest, Xavier relaxed a little. Perhaps if my mother had a companion around she would be more happy? Although she didn’t say his name, everyone knew that she was talking about her father and that alone wounded worse than any punch she could throw.
I.. that’s not… He sighed. I didn’t mean it that way. I meant it jokingly.
Isn’t it though? You meant to be cruel and hurtful to my husband and my guest. A fraction that will one day will not go unpunished. She looked at her mother. I’d like to apologize, Mother, but I seemed to have lost my appetite.
Very well. Mother nodded her head, the corners of her lips curled just a little. She was becoming quite proud of the woman she was turning out to be. I hope you do join us for breakfast. I’m sure the atmosphere will be a whole lot different. Julian looked at his wife in disbelief as he realized that she had basically said that he wouldn’t be present. Enjoy the rest of your night.. She shifted her eyes towards her husband. Only some of us will.
With quick goodbyes, the trio was back out in the main hall, with each step she took towards the front door, Le’Andra kept clenching her fists and taking deep breaths. Xavier and Anicka trailed a step behind her, neither saying anything, but were prepared for everything. Once they were in the parking lot, it was Anicka who spoke.
Where are we going, Le-Le?
Glad we’re wearing pants.
Xavier smirked, it was going to be an interesting night; that was Anickanese for get drunk and fight, not that he hasn’t seen both women fight in a dress or a skirt in the past.
June 17 2021; 3:21am - Snowhotel Kirkenes, Kirkenes, Norway
The front door of the hotel opened and Anicka was shoved inside with Xavier’s foot to her back, she hit the floor and slid a couple of feet, before she rolled over on her back.
In you go, Ani. Le’Andra was over his shoulder and she was FURYous, so much so that she was speaking in English and Noweigen both in the same sentence. As they came through the door, it closed behind them catching Le’s head causing her to hit both the door and Xavier’s back.
Put me the fuck down.
Nothing to see here, folks. He chuckled to the half full lobby as they collectively turned and looked at them, some of them with shocked gasps. Le’Andra had squirmed enough in Xavier’s arms that he had to put her down and when he did he pushed her causing her to land next to Ani; both women rolled towards each other and began to fight. He’s not even sure what started this one. One minute it was them against half a pub and then next minute they were fighting. Christ, you two, you’re killing me.
Xavier walked over to them and grabbed Le’Andra by the waist and tried to pull her away from Ani, but they clung to each other and every time he pulled Anicka would be raised off the floor. Finally, he put his foot on Anicka’s chest to hold her down and pulled on Le’ again. This time they did separate, and when he could, he tossed Le’Andra towards the front desk and more importantly, the closest elevator. He yanked Ani up and up on his shoulder and looked up in time to see Le'Andra coming at them. He managed to put up an arm to block her, all the while blocking her attempts to hit Ani. I’ve got this, everything is under control.
He put Anicka back down on her feet, while still managing to hold Le’Andra at bay, and gave her another shove, again, sending her sprawling across the floor. Le’Andra turned and started for her, Xavier grabbed her and wrapped his arms around her waist and tried to hold her still but she managed to pull him a couple of feet.
No, you don’t. He hoisted Le’ back up on his shoulder.
If you don’t stop pushing Ani down. She rolled over and sat up.
Xavier looked at the front desk manager and then pointed to everyone in the room. Why don’t you send a bottle of champagne to everyone’s room. We’ve given them a show, they might as well have a drink on us, too.
He walks over and reaches down to grab one of Anicka’s arms and she jerks it away, he tries for the other and she does the same, this went on a couple of times. Will. You. Stop. It.
No. Ani. Won’t. She said right before he caught a wrist and pulled her to her feet and into him wrapping that arm around her.
He chuckled and shook his head as he held tight to Le’ as she struggled, all while holding on to Anicka and pushing her towards the elevator, which one of the desk attendants was already standing at holding the door open so it didn’t close. I’ve.. got.. this...
He gave Anicka a shove into the elevator, you could just tell by the sound that came from inside that she hit the floor.
STOP. DOING. THAT!
He dropped Le’Andra to the floor and as soon as her feet touched the ground he pushed her in, too. He turned around and smiled. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, but that was the end of our show. Hope you enj… There was a commotion coming from the elevator. Damn it… Xavier went in and as soon as he did the attendant let go of the doors and they closed. The last thing everyone heard before a collective laugh began to circulate through the lobby was Xavier’s voice… Ouch, damn it, why are you hitting me?
Five floors up a group of four college guys were standing and waiting for the elevator, they were on break and they were on their way out to the pub across the street to see what kind of action they could find. When the elevator doors slid open, they turned to walk in and found Le’Andra Fury and Anicka Swan locked in a very aggressive kiss, hands everywhere.
Hot damn… One of the guys breaks out his cell phone and starts to record.
Ladies, did you ever stop on the right floor. Another guy says as he starts to step onto the elevator but was stopped as a muscular tattooed arm came down and blocked the way; the group watched as Xavier Wolf stepped from one of the blind corners he had been standing in, watching the show. He stood there and stared at each one of them, there was no smile on his face; no friendliness in his eyes as if he dared one of them to even try to step in. All he said was 2 words…
Wrong elevator.
