“Lonely At The Top”
Austin Ramsey: “It was the happiest of times; it was the crappiest of times. That would describe the reign of The SHoW STeaLeRz as the OPW Immortal Tag Team Champions. Of course, you all did exactly what we asked you to do; more importantly, what I asked you to do, and you gave me every ounce of love that you had. I get it now, Toddy. You all helped propel me to feats of strength and endurance that I hadn’t executed before. So thank you for your love and support.
That sounds so strange, crossing my lips, the kid who was unlovable and only good for one thing. I’m so used to being used as a form of currency for my parents' next fix that I didn’t think I was worthy of love until Toddy came along. I one hundred percent didn’t think lightning would strike twice, and the Outlaw Nation would rally behind me the way you did two weeks ago.
The same way I know, you will on Friday night when we face The ViP’$. I know that I’ve done some things that some would consider unforgivable, but you stuck by me, prolly cause of Toddy, but I’ll take it. But no matter what I’ve done, you must admit that Paul Montuori and Miss Michelle have been insufferable as of late. They are just two of the numerous haters that have come out of the woodwork since we ascended to greatness. I was always told that it is lonely at the top, and I guess that is a true statement.
Most of our closest “friends” haven’t even bothered to send a note of congratulations. No phone call, no e-mail, telegram, or fucking carrier pigeon, but we are always the first ones to send our well wishes and a gift to them when they accomplish anything. It would be so easy to spout nasty shit about them like our opponents are accustomed to doing, but this is one of the many reasons why me and Toddy are better than them. We are superior, but you all already knew that.
I guess my destiny is that no matter how hard I try to be a better Austin, or as Ricky Rodriguez would say, the best Austin, someone always wants to drag me back into the cesspool of shit. This week on Twitter, the mangy goat and the lost member of the lollipop guild tried their best to rile me up. They commented on everything I said, trying to get me to snap because they wanted to have me angry on Friday night, so I make fatal mistakes. Austin isn’t stupid and wasn’t falling for it. I’ll let my fists and feet respond to all their bullshit in that ring.
They even went after Toddy, which everyone knows is my ultimate weakness. Speaking of, I didn’t forget bitch made Brandon Moore and his harlot Diamond Dior, but this isn’t about them, is it? They started at the bottom, and they're still there. This is about the Lady and the Tramp; I’ll let you guess which one is which because I’m a gentleman. It ain’t the Disney version you may be accustomed to. This is the straight-to DVD that lands in the $5 bargain bin at Wal-Marts across the nation. This is the real-life Mean Girls 2 that no one watched to the end because it never hit the mainstream. Also, it was nowhere near as good as the original.
Yeah, I said it; they fancy themselves the Mean Girls of OPW, and what do they have to show for it? Well, I guess Bitch Pudding does, and all Paulie does is braid her hair and rub her feet while she does all the heavy lifting. Everyone serves a purpose, I guess. Say, Paul, you second guess yourself a lot. Do you second guess cumming when you are with her? Do you have to ask for permission? Cause your usual stick is she might leave you, because you don't deserve her, right?
Since we are on the subject of getting permission, do you have permission to go for the win in our match? I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble for stepping out of bounds. We know who wears the big thong in your relationship, and it ain’t you. Have Y’all figured out who the Lady is yet? It’s okay if you haven’t; he is allowed to yelp every now and then, so I can see how confusing it would be. Besides, it is easier to figure out the Lady here because if you focus on the Tramp, you’ll run out of time, and time is valuable.
Right now, I’m wasting precious time with my wife addressing the Wicked Witch of the West and her Winged Monkey when I should be taking my beautiful wife on one of these awesome rides here at Six Flags Over Georgia. Today is yet another joyful moment being occupied by the villain sidekicks of OPW. We went to a doctor’s appointment with our surrogate this morning, and our twins are so healthy. They were so good for the ultrasound this morning. I can’t believe it’s already been two months. We will meet our bundles of joy in January, and I can’t wait.
But no, every high moment we get, here come the two gnats to be annoying and just be in the way. I’m sick of their shit, but I won’t be hothead Austin in that ring. I will be cold and calculated because I got some aggression to get out of my body, but I want to do it the right way. I want to finish what ole girl started at the Cannabis Cup with Little Bo Peeps' face. As Toddy said, he has never looked better. Have you figured out who the Lady is by now?
Toddy is giving me that look; she wants me to wrap this shit up and give her the attention that she deserves. So I’ll say this, I don’t need to tell you what’s going to happen to you on Friday because you already know. You’ve thrown all your mind games at us, and they haven’t worked. When you are at the top of the mountain, you don’t descend to sling slop with the hogs. Very few people can come in and make the impact that we did, say what we are going to do, and then accomplish just that. The entire world knows that wasn’t a fluke win, and we will prove it again when we bop the two of you at Showcase 37 this Friday.
I’d say sorry about your damn luck, but I don’t mean it. To the Outlaw Nation, you know what your heroes want and need. Please give us all you have; we promise to return that same energy. You all are the greatest fans a fella could ask for. We promise to be the champions you deserve. We are the obstacle that The ViP$ won’t be able to overcome. That’s a check you can cash at any bank, and it won’t bounce.”
Austin looks over at his wife, who is signing autographs. He beams with pride as she is in her element with her fans. Everything she did made him love her more and more. She supported him, and he figured that she was keeping them at bay while he was recording. Usually, it was all about Toddy, but now that they saw him finished, Austin started to get a crowd around him. He smiled and signed whatever they wanted him to. The two took pictures and embraced their fans. They truly felt like champions at this moment.
They signed their last item, and the two linked arms and continued walking around the park. Austin walked them over to an ice cream stand and got them cones. He couldn’t resist dabbing her nose with his ice cream. They shared a laugh, and he licked it off without a second thought. The two were in their own world now. They were in synch, the type of synch they would display on Friday night. They were unbreakable, and they knew it. It was driving them and would drive them in the ring.
There was a reason they were the Tag Team Champions, and the world would see it soon enough. Austin was on top of the world, and there was no way he would disappoint his bride. Sure everyone was gunning for them now, but let them chase the top dogs, The SHoW STeaLeRz were not going to be dethroned anytime soon. He very much wanted to show her he was her man and win her a giant stuffed animal, so he led her to the strength test. He swung the hammer with all his might, and the light went to the top. He smiled and knew immediately he wanted her to have the stuffed Tasmanian Devil because it represented him in so many ways.
She smiled and accepted her prize from her man. Austin was genuinely beaming, and he pulled her close. What started out as a great day had returned to that state. It reminded him that even when things go left, with Toddy by his side, they can return to the best of times. It may be lonely at the top, but he was never truly alone. Something Paul and Michelle would learn in a few days. As the scene begins to fade, Austin’s smile is the last thing seen.
