Joe Montuori..........Who?
Tokyo, Japan
Here they were back in this city, a city of high adventure. No city moved faster than Tokyo. Not even New York or London. No city was more tightly packed. No city looked more like the future. The city flashed by, and your only hope was to dive right in. Subway trains disgorged waves of anonymous city workers out into it. The flashing neon stores in Shibuya sold high-tech toys to moneyed hipsters. In Harajuku, the kids looked like nothing on Earth, that’s why the Koresh Family fitted in with the rest of the freaks here. The temples and geisha girls who still existed here look less like historical artefacts, and more like wild anachronisms, beamed here in some sort of time machine.
This country had been through a lot over the last few decades, what with the Earth Quake and following tsunami’s which had nearly caused some kind of nuclear meltdown in its wake. It had survived the OPW pay per view last week? The Family had been represented by the King of Monsters, Caleb Koresh and he had brought back the gold. They had survived that too so anything is possible. Especially with the devastation they had seen as they had drove through the city. Mother Nature had been a bitch and kicked back. Nocturnal remembered when he was sat on his couch with his sister watching as it happened, as the tsunami swept in and devastated Japan, it was extremely amazing to watch, as if in slow motion washing across the cities, sweeping all cars, houses and people in its way. It was shocking. It was Mother Nature at her damn worse.
The country had been through a lot and now that Outlaw Pro Wrestling was done with it they could get back to some sort of normalcy but would it ever? Who knows?
Tension was high in Tokyo as after the pay per view the roster of Outlaw Pro Wrestling was out on the town as they say. This city was dripping sin in the eyes of the Sadistic Bastard known as Nocturnal and it was the type of place that drew all the dregs of humanity to it like a moth to a flame if you could find it. This city was like a degenerate’s wet dream. How did real non-sinners manage to live there Nocturnal didn’t know. They weren’t like those sicko freaks in the homeland. To see them on our screens prancing around in next to nothing leaving nothing to the imagination is pathetic. Why does America treat these people as Celebrities? These people are just brainless morons who sleep with anything just to get ratings for their pathetic excuse of a television program. With their breeding we get nearer and nearer to the point where the idiocracy is apparent in real world. When you have completely inept people in charge of the rest of the sheep within these borders then that is a scary thought.
The place that Shadrach had brought Family was a cavern of curved brick arches, sagging cement walls and meandering black iron pipes. Weak lights implied a glow through the caked warehouse styled windows with their rusted latches. Wooden doors hanged loose on the plaster walls that go nowhere. This place had survived various natural disasters. Once upon a time, this place was probably a mill or factory of some kind. Now it was an enormous disorganised antique and junk shop, packed in like keepsakes and Christmas ornaments into an old garage.
It was broken down into sections; In the back of the place was a furniture graveyard where dozens of tables crowd together to create a sticky wooden plain populated by herds of ugly lamps. A basketball court sized room which was crowded with racks of dusty gowns and 1980’s style track suits. Milk crates of old vinyl records in water damaged sleeves are jammed under every desk, table and sewing station that they’ll fit. This sort of things was big in Japan as Americana was huge there.
Much of the light in there came from junk lamps and bare bulbs. The hum of the AC units swallowed each other sound more than a few feet away. Somewhere, though, an AM radio played Run DMC tunes cut through it all. This would be a picker’s delight in the States but it was a rarity in Tokyo but trust the Family to find it.
Nocturnal sat on one of the couches as his Family members were spread out around him. There seemed to be a few new faces in the group as some of the members of the Cure were amongst them. He was stroking his beard as he leaned back surveying his brethren and the Cure as they were mingling around in this place of weirdness. How many people had fuelled their sins by selling the items that this place stocked?
Caleb and Jayson looked hurt from their tag championship match earlier on pay per view but that came with the territory. Making an ass of the former tag champions had been priceless and they were sure that it had probably shocked the world as they probably thought that the former OPW Tag Champions were a sure fire win as the Cure hadn’t teamed together before but that’s how Caleb’s skills in the squared circle came to the forefront.
Shadrach was sitting to his left looking through some web pages on the lap top that he had found in this den of sin. Tokyo wasn’t the Family’s type of place and Nocturnal was sickened by the very air that he breathed in this cess pool of a city. It wasn’t like being back home on the homestead but if this was where the Cure had to come to if it wanted to embarrass those Caffeine Mafia hacks then this was the place to be.
The next show was supposed to be interesting for Caleb and Jayson this week as someone had decided to put them in a rematch for the tag championship, whose idea was that? What they don’t realise is that Caleb was brought up for violence like that. Growing up Caleb had to grapple with a few ruffians just to survive in our household so a rematch shouldn’t be too hard.
Nocturnal coughed and his Family members and those from the Cure turned to him. Their attention was one hundred per cent and it was hard to see if they blinked. “So what happen on the pay per view last week was amazing. I don’t think anyone expected it to go down quite the way it did. It was supposed to be the big night for the Caffeine Mafia. You were supposed to be just a stepping stone for them to trample on the way to showing the industry that they were a real team BUT you showed them that they were nothing but transitional champions.”
He smirked.
“Only one problem; the Cure didn’t get that damn memo and as far as I know this isn’t the Caffeine Mafia’s show,” he said. “Times have changed and a new regime has taken over here and teams like the Caffeine Mafia are but a past thought.”
Someone from within the Family members sighs at that comment.
“What? Do I shock you?” Nocturnal said. “I need to shock people as this world will never survive for much longer in the downward spiral it is in. Only my salvation can save those that I think can be saved. The Church doesn’t care, the governments of the world countries don’t care as they quibble over anything that will get them more power. The Cure is what it is all about now; you guys made an impact especially with this Korrupt cat joining your crew.”
He stands and moved amongst those who watched.
“Korrupt seems to be a great acquisition for the group,” he said. “The mask is pretty freaky and fits pretty well with the group and hopefully over the next few months we will learn more about him but he is only the start for this new look that Apathy has done to the Cure.”
Nocturnal looked at Jayson.
“Time is all relevant at the moment,” he continued. “Now that Johnny has been arrested and the Syndicate has left a gap to be filled it is your time Caleb, Jayson. You are the future of this company. There has been a changing of the guard and there are opportunities for even me if I decided to get back between the ropes. I should be really pleased now that Johnny has been arrested. I know he’s the sort that would drop the soap in the showers on purpose. Just the sort of thing he would do back in the day but taking the piss of that has-been is low now so we move onto this next show in Florida which really means we need to get a plane back home.”
Caleb nodded as the patriarch of the Family as he knew how dangerous he was.
Nocturnal acknowledged his Family members. “But this shouldn’t be about me as Caleb and Jayson should be beat these two. The Mafia disrespected you and thought you were just some punks who were star struck in their presence. Well knock me down with a feather, you are for real. Lisa Marie turned out to be the loser that she portrays on OPW TV. She was the freaking weak link in that team and you showed the world what we know in the locker room.”
He pointed out of the window at people walking past. “People not only in this country are waking up to what they are all about, didn’t you see it? Did you see how the Cure was getting over at some points through that match? For real?”
“It’s probably ‘cos those Mafia punks really sucked,” Jayson interrupted. “They shouldn’t be working for this company let alone holding our belts for us, right Caleb?”
Caleb nodded his head as he looked at his cousin.
“They probably thought of the monster that they faced in Caleb was just some sort of shitty gimmick but he proved them wrong. But we’re putting a lot on Lisa Marie’s head but what about her tag partner’s head,” he said. “Now this creature that goes by the moniker of AdrenaLynn thought that she was a real monster but she is not like Caleb. He has an insatiable lust for violence brought on by being part of my Family who control him and let him lose on the Caffeine Mafia. No, I have seen real monsters in my life. In my early life I had seen what my father had done to my mother now that was a monster. And that is how I had turned out like surprisingly. The Caffeine Mafia will be schooled by Caleb and Jayson and they might even break a smile when they beat the living hell out of those two AGAIN.”
Caleb nodded again.
“Come on Noc,” Jayson said. ”We all know it’s going to go the Cure’s way as we’re taking over this company. We all know you had something to do with your arch-nemesis being locked away. We all know you that with Johnny gone you can move your pawns into position. This is your M.O. Noc.”
The Family members laughed nervously to the comment that Caleb’s tag partner had said.
Nocturnal stood back up and walked around the building. He reached into a bag by Caleb’s feet and pulled out one of the OPW Tag Championship belts that Caleb and Jayson had won at the pay per view. “This prop and similar ones makes people think that they are the top of this industry. People like Stephen Stratford, Vhodka Marie and Xavier Wolf have had a belt around their waists and now look how far they have fallen in the eyes of their peers. Sins will re-paid in full. We will make the company great again.”
“What about that Joe guy?” asked Jayson. “Joe Montuori.”
“Who?” Nocturnal looked confused. “Who is he? Is he another former wrestler that Johnny felt sorry for and gave them a job on the t-shirt stand like Royal Powerhouse or Devin Stone?”
“Probably,” Jayson said as he motioned for Nocturnal to carry on.
He passed the belt back to Caleb and looked outside where he saw a woman walk passed. She had a mix of J-pop and kawaii styles. She frowned as if contemplating some inner conundrum. She was soaking from the rain and without an umbrella. Something about her was fascinating. The girl’s eyes seemed unfocussed and distant until she noticed Nocturnal.
“I will meet you guys later,” Nocturnal said. “Something seems to have come up.”
He stood up and left the rest of the Cure sat there.
“Jayson,” Caleb muttered. “You ready to retire the Caffeine Mafia?”
“We will put them six feet under big man,” Jayson said. “Six feet under!”
