Going to give a little introduction.
My name is Candice and I handled Candice “VooDoo” Wolf, Allison Riggs-Preston, Anicka Swan, Angelique Wolf, Jenna Riggs, Enigma: One and Two. I am the Wolfpack's Matriarch and the one that everyone says is the glue that holds the shit together because of the fact that I have all the google docs with about 20 yrs worth of information in google docs about all of our wrestlers and key moments in the Wolfpack's Master Storyline. We each have our own storylines, but they always tie into the Stables storyline. Yes, Dan and Vin and I have been working as a stable for almost 20 yrs and slowly grew from struggling wrestlers to a wrestling dynasty. There are some who have been reading our role plays over the years and can tell you that you can follow it just like you were watching a tv series... we've had marriages, births, drug/alcohol/gambling addictions and fights among ourselves (Vin and Dan got into a fight for real for about 6 mons one time and wouldn't speak to each other, their wrestlers mad at each other and fighting each other and my wrestlers are married to them), imagine being in the middle of that one, it was not a happy moment in our stable's history.
I’ve been role playing since October 31, 1999; I started in the AOL email feds. My boyfriend at the time owned a fed called EWF and wrote me in as Tony Cancelliere’s wife, Candice. He put me on the email list so I could see the RPs that everyone was doing and read results and after a couple of months I asked him if I could take over Rping as Candice. I eventually joined a fed he was in as a masked wrestler named VooDoo. She wore a Scream mask and made his wrestler’s life a living hell. EWF is where I met Dan (Damon Riggs/Dane Preston), he eventually left EWF because my ex was a douche who had his favorites. When my ex quit RPing, I didn’t (I may or may not have been the reason why he retired, I will just say that sometimes when we would argue, he would bring up what VooDoo did to him in FwF).
It was about 2 yrs later that I ran into Dan in another federation and he introduced me to Vincent (Vincent Wolf/Kal X. Wolf/Xavier Wolf). And the Wolfpack was created.
Our storyline began when VooDoo got angry at her Owner and ran away. She called her friend, Damon, for help. When he arrived, she got all paranoid and started to run away, so he knocked her out. He had to find some place to put her to keep her safe until he could get things figured out and talk to Oss and find out what was going on. So, he and Bryan Dyamond took her to his friend, Vincent Wolf’s tiny little one room apartment and dropped her in his bed. The story that Vin and I went with was… she never left and Vincent never thought to ask her to leave. One of the first things that Vin did as a sign of his love for VooDoo, was build a rose garden on top of the roof for her since she missed her rose garden and her first act was when she purchased the building he lived in and renovated the floor Vincent lived on, she left his small apartment just the way it was; her feelings were her Superman needed his Fortress of Solitude.
Then came Jenna Riggs, Damon’s wife. Dan and I both created her. From there came Allison Riggs, I didn’t create her. That was all Dan and Stellar (I can’t remember the wrestlers name). She was a little miffed about logging in to check the email one day and finding out that her 14 yr old fake efed daughter had put out a Rp, but what could she do? ARP was half Dan’s, she eventually gave me the Guiliani family history so I could at least have some family background on her side.
Then came Angelique Lupo, who went on to marry Kal X. I never wrestled with her, but I wanted to make sure that no other chick could date/marry Kal.
I created Anicka Swan because he started wrestling with Xavier Wolf, and X was dating other chicks right before he needed to take a LOA from efeding, I thought the best way to catch a whore was with one. While he was away, we went into a storyline with VooDoo’s pregnancy with the Twins and she was managing Enigma, One and Two, who are the Prestons’ nanny now. And Anicka sort of developed a reputation as a very friendly female with the males and became tainted goods with Xavier. So, from there the Dog pound was born (which were fiction people she would hook up with). She eventually became our “bait” when we were looking for a 4th person to RP with. With each person who would express an interest in her we would watch them and see if there were someone who would “fit in” with us but we could never find the right one.
Until last year, Dan was introduced to Chris (Roger Wright) and felt he might be a good fit. So we hit him with a Storyline idea that not too many dudes I feel would be up to a poly relationship; and all the stuff that could be used against him as a result of it, but he was down for it. Chris was a little shocked with how we worked as a group when he first started with us because of all the detail and planning that goes into the storylines.
Which brings me to the topic at hand… working as a stable.
Let me just say FB chat groups and google docs have made communicating a whole lot easier than when I first started out. I’ve also heard some people use discord as well. But communicating is the NUMBER ONE and NUMBER TWO thing that you need to do. Without that you’re screwed as a whole. You have to be able to tell those you are working with how you want it to go, but you also have to be open to their interpretation and their ideas into the storyline. You can’t just throw something out there in a role play and expect the people that you’re working with to know what you are doing and go along with it. Especially if it goes against the group Storyline.
Vin, Dan and I have been working the same storyline as a stable for almost 20 yrs with the same characters, I like to think of it as the Master Storyline, our Master SL does not change going from fed to fed. There have only been two cases of us actually breaking the timeline and inserting “changes”. We did age ARP up about 4yrs during a fed drought so I could role play as her as a wrestler. And just last month, we slid in Vin and Voo having a 10 yr old son (Vin was totally right when he said no one would notice because we had so many characters running around in our role plays). Vin did recently change his picture bases for her wrestlers, but when he did he talked to me about it first. He really didn’t have to but as he put it… they were just as much my characters as they were his, but the same also goes for VooDoo; she is just as much his as she is mine because of the Master SL that we spend so much time creating.
There was recently a person who wanted to work a storyline with VooDoo; that involved him having dated VooDoo in the past; but that goes against the Master SL for the Wolfpack. She went from Cancelliere to Kristian Oss to Vincent Wolf (there was this one fed before Vincent and Voo officially became a couple, where VooDoo and Damon Riggs had a night together. Vin and I were still testing the waters with each other to see if we were going to stick around because during that time period a lot of the girls were “breaking up” with the guys they were Rping with and “hooking up” with others). All three of us found out that it was hard as hell keeping the SLs separate so when that fed died, so did the Voo/Damon relationship; but we still kept it in the Master SL. When I explained to the guy that Vincent and Voo had been together for almost 20 yrs, he was like damn, I didn’t know you all went that far back.
Vin, Dan and I have worked so long with each other that we have become so accustomed to using each other’s characters that we don’t really even think about saying… oh, btw, I am using “whoever” in my Rp and just do it. Which led to Vin this week saying… crap, I didn’t even ask Chris if I could use Roger in my Rp.
Even though someone has given you permission to use their wrestlers in your role plays… Do not use them in a manner that their wrestler wouldn’t normally behave. Vin would never have VooDoo dressed in a white sundress with yellow daisies on it, Dan would never have Jenna in the role as Dominatrix, and Chris would never have Ani speak in 1st person (since she speaks in 3rd person; Vin and Dan also keep her speaking in 3rd person). And I would never portray their wrestlers as anything but what they have. Although we still do send links to our rps on google docs and ask… is this okay? Which is why google docs is so awesome because if something is wrong they can fix it.
Been a while since I played Kal X… and while I was MIA for a while, Vin and Dan continued the Master Storyline and Kal had changed a little on me while I was gone. Despite Dan saying that was perfect, Vin didn’t hesitate to say, hold up. That goes with that whole communication thing. You’ve got to be able to tell the person you are working with that’s wrong, as well as explain to them how it should be. And in the same sense, you have to not be butt-hurt over them correcting you and you have to be able to make the changes needed.
It is no lie when I tell you that the Rps that you see the four of us post, have been talked about weeks and even months in advance and can play out in series of RPs over a month until the story has been fully told. That’s why it’s important to communicate and talk things out.
Last year a situation came up where I had already finished writing a Rp with one SL with one member of the Pack and was about to send it, when another member of the Wolfpack needed me to have a scene in my Rp to help with his Rp. So, I had to write another scene but had to keep it within the same SL as the one already going on.
Someone once asked me why I have so many different scenes in my role plays… the whole [The scene fades in/the scene fades to black.] thing that I have kicking in my RPs. When you are working with more than one person and you’re trying to bring everyone’s story together, sometimes you have to break it down in scenes. Especially if you’re playing three different women who are dating three different men. In the Rp mentioned above, I had Ani in Texas with Roger, but I also needed to have ARP putting her car in a lake in NJ because she was mad at her husband, Dane. So at the end of the RP, I put Ani returning from Texas in time to see Allison put her car in the lake.
Surprisingly enough, it has been rather easy bringing Chris into the Pack. Where Dan, Vin and I have had almost 20 yrs working together and building the Wolfpack’s master storyline, Chris had a whole lot of stuff he needed to learn about the Pack’s history. Who the main players were, their roles in the Pack, the layout of the compound and speaking font colors.
Yes, everyone in the Wolfpack has their own font color for speaking; 3 out of 4 of us use those colors. (Vin is our lone wolf and doesn’t use them, he said he doesn’t have time for all that shit.) You and your group don’t have to be that OCD about it, but it does help the person who is reading your role play to distinguish who is talking without having to put in something like this for example:
VooDoo: Let me the fuck out of here. [She banged on the door.] I promise, I will make your life hell.
Although that does help with your word count, if you like bragging about how many words are in your role play. Which will be another topic in the RP 101 boards, but I will say… Your word count means absolutely nothing if the story inside of it isn’t entertaining and keeps your readers attention from start to finish, but like I said, that’s a topic for another post.
When Chris became a member of the Pack, we picked out font colors for his players. When Vin, Dan and I first started (Vin was using font color in the AOL days) we had to sit down and discuss who used what. Vin and I were both using red for Kal X and VooDoo. Vin opted to let me have the red and took a darker color red for Kal. Dan was also using the color red for Damon while I was MIA, but he was given the color blue again. This is an example of how to compromise in a group. You have to be willing to make small sacrifices to make the group work as a whole. Compromise is another thing you will have to learn. I can’t tell you how many scenes to Rps that I have written and saved, because something came up and a different scene was needed for the SL.
For the Wolfpack… it’s not a matter of trying to outdo each other with the role plays, it’s about working together to make our storyline solid. There have been so many people over the years that have reached out to me over the years and ask me how we manage to make the Adventures of the Wolfpack seem like they are reading a story… it’s simple. We care about each other's work, as much as we do about our own. It’s about making us all look good.
You have to leave your ego at the door when you work as a stable. You can’t go in thinking that you’re better than those you run with or that they are going to follow your storyline only because you feel that yours is better or because you’re the one who put the stable together.
That’s about all for now. I will be adding more to this later as things come up, but for now, if you have any questions, please feel free to message me. I will be happy to answer them.
