The scene opens to the stands of Mackay Stadium in Reno, NV. It’s the Middle of the Day and slightly overcast with a slight breeze. There we find Kyle Mehr dressed in Black Nikes, Black Nike Mesh Shorts and a Black Sleeveless Nike Shirt. A pair of Black Oakleys sit on top of his head. Kyle sits in the North Endzone stands staring out on the field, he then begins to speak.
The Day was November 26th, 2010, it was probably my favorite sporting event as a fan. The #19 Nevada WolfPack took on #3 Boise St, Boise St had beaten Nevada 10 times in a row, had a 23 game Winning Streak and if they beat Nevada would for sure play in the Rose Bowl that year and perhaps maybe the National Championship game. Now I know you didn’t come for or probably even care for this history lesson so I will get to the ending and cut to the chase of why it’s relevant to me as a wrestler. Nevada came back from a 24-3 deficit to win 34-31 in Overtime. The team NOBODY gave a chance to win, beat Mighty Boise and dashed all THEIR hopes and dreams.
The correlation you ask? Well I have been in OPW for a bit now, I’m even going to be in the #1 Contenders Match for the Prestige Championship versus Jason Ryan at Highway2Hell. Like Nevada however people seemingly aren't giving me a chance just like Nevada. They seem to look at me as some sort of fly in the ointment, the monkey in the wrench and perhaps just a pain in the ass. What they don't take me, just like Boise St didnt with Nevada, is take me seriously. I mean week in and week out opponents don't even acknowledge me at all and if they do they hardly see me as a threat or challenge. But that's ok with me, that's their perception of things...I will just keep doing my best to prove like Nevada did that night is don't count me out or just like Nevada did to Boise St I will dash all your dreams and hopes before you know what happened.
At the last Showcase, I took on Pequeno Dinosaurio and Carter Alpha. I will admit I came up short in that match thanks to constant distraction from the man who I will take on at Highway2Hell in the #1 Contendership for the Prestige Championship Match, Jason Ryan. Jason, Felt the need to constantly cause shenanigans to distract me and in the end his sophomoric antics distracted me enough to enable Pequeno Dinosaurio to gain the victory. Well mozitov to Pequeno Dinosaurio who is now the #! Contender to the Pureblood Championship thanks to his victory over Carter Alpha and myself that night.
I’m not one to dwell too much on the past, especially when I have a chance to change the narrative on my brief career here in OPW. I wouldn't say I have been a disappointment here in OPW, Hell I’m competing on PPV in a #1 Contenders in a short time however I’m not exactly standing out amongst the crowd of recent OPW signees either. I’m sort of just existing, not causing waves or being noticed as you can tell by my opponents lack of mentioning my mere existence let alone driving any fears into them. This week at the Social Distancing episode of Showcase that narrative changes and I make people start knowing and remembering the name of Kyle Mehr. This week Jaxson Riley & Abdul Bin Hassan will learn what happens when you step in the ring with me,
Not only that I might repay Jason Ryan for his shenanigans in my match last week by making my presence known in his match this week vs Carter Alpha. Jason is one of those who seem to conveniently don't acknowledge my existence well after Highway2Hell is over and I have beaten him to become the #1 Contender for the Prestige Championship maybe...just maybe he will remember the name of Kyle Mehr.
Just remember folks, you underestimate your opponent and you could be the next Boise St. When we are all said and done just like the nation learned about Nevada that night, you all are about to learn just how dangerous Kyle Mehr is.
Kyle walks away as the scene fades to black.
